Tiger Text Cheating Spouse App vs. iPhone Spy Apps

Over the past few days, there has been a considerable amount of news about a new cheating spouse app for the iPhone called Tiger Text. Although Tiger Text definitely looks like a fun app, a cheating spouse hoping to use Tiger Text to carry on an affair wont stand a chance if their spouse has installed an iPhone spy app on their iPhone.
Before I get into all the reasons why Tiger Text will actually HELP a suspicious spouse catch a cheater (versus helping the cheating spouse carry on an affair), here is an overview of what Tiger Text is, and how it works.
WHAT IS TIGER TEXT & HOW DOES IT WORK?

Tiger Text is an iPhone app that advertises itself as a tool to help people “cover their tracks” that are left when sending traditional text messages. What Tiger Text does is enable a cheating spouse to send text messages between the “other person” (who is also using Tiger Text) and not worry about the text message being found by someone else — because messages sent via Tiger Text will essentially self destruct within a specified timeframe.
When you send a text message using Tiger Text, the content of your message is never sent to the recipient’s phone as it does when you send a standard text message. Since the message doesn’t reside on the recipient’s phone, but rather stored on Tiger Text’s servers, you are given full control when the messages are deleted from Tiger Text’s servers.

As you can see from the screen shots above, once the messages are gone, they are gone. You can set messages to ‘Delete On Read’ or set your own time limit such as 2 hours, 4 hours, etc. A few other tidbits of information are that both users must have Tiger Text installed (there is a free reader if the other person doesn’t want to buy Tiger Text), and if a message is set to expire at a specified time period and it’s not read, then its gone forever. Pricing for Tiger Text is FREE for the first 100 messages or 15 days (whichever comes first), and then its $1.49 per 250 messages sent per month or $2.49 per month for unlimited messages. Currently the iPhone is the only supported device, but there are now plans for BlackBerry and Android versions later this year.
The developer of the app says that using Tiger Text will help you cover your tracks, and I agree 100%. It will help someone cover their tracks who is using Tiger Text to send text messages. However, if a suspicious spouse has secretly installed an iPhone spy app on their spouse’s iPhone, then its game over. The cheating spouse will get caught. I’m 100% sure of it, for the reasons below.
Here are my 5 reasons why Tiger Text will actually HELP catch a cheating spouse (and NOT help a cheating spouse carry on an affair).
#1) Live Call Tapping – iPhone spy apps such as Flexispy PRO-X enable a suspicious spouse to secretly listen in on calls. Even if their spouse is using Tiger Text to communicate, at some point they will talk to them on the phone. When they do, the suspicious spouse can secretly tap into the call and listen in to what is going on.
#2) Stealth GPS Tracking - Ok, so someone uses Tiger Text’s cheating spouse app to arrange a secret meeting with the “other” person. Perhaps it’s during a work day and they are supposed to be in meetings all day (thats their story), or maybe they are supposed to be on the east side of town versus the west side. Regardless of where they are supposed to be, what they end up doing is using Tiger Text to meet up someplace thinking their spouse will never know. Unfortunately for them, an iPhone spy app has stealth GPS tracking (available on Mobile Spy & all versions of Flexispy). This means when they are at their secret meeting, their spouse will know exactly where they are and will be able to track them down. So much for covering your tracks.
#3) Remote Monitoring - This is similar to the item above, but with a bit more drama thrown in. A cheating spouse can use Tiger Text all they want to arrange a secret meeting, but with an iPhone spy app, their spouse can perform a spy call (only available on Flexispy PRO & PRO-X) and remotely turn on the iPhone and listen in on the iPhone’s surroundings. Now the spouse not only knows exactly where their cheating spouse is via GPS tracking, but they now can listen in on what’s going on in the room. Ooops.
#4) Call History - Similar to item #1, at some point a Tiger Text user will call the “other” person, and when they do, their call records will show who they called and when. Even if the call history is erased as soon as they finish the call, an iPhone spy app sold by Flexispy or Mobile Spy will record the number dialed/received, time, date, and duration. Now all the spouse has to do is perform a reverse cell phone look up to find out who owns the number. Busted.
#5) Tiger Text itself – Tiger Text is a victim of its own success. There has been an enormous buzz surrounding Tiger Text since it was released. The news has hit not only the tech blogs and news sites, but also all the traditional media outlets such as CNN, NY Times, etc.. which means if a cheating spouse thinks Tiger Text is going to be their savior, they are in for a big surprise because if they’ve heard of it, most likely their spouse has as well. What will their excuse be when their spouse flips through their icons and sees a big orange ‘Tiger Text’ icon on their phone. I’d like to see someone explain to their spouse the reasons for needing an app the deletes messages that they don’t want other people to read. Furthermore, if the “other” person wants to collect evidence, all they have to do is take a screen shot (power button + home button) before the message is deleted, and they will have the evidence they need to be used in any way they want.
In summary, in my opinion Tiger Text is more of a novelty app. It’s something you show your friends, joke about at parties, etc., but it’s not something that will help a cheating spouse carry on an affair, especially if their spouse has secretly installed an iPhone spy app on their iPhone. If that’s the case, the only thing Tiger Text will do is only give the cheating spouse a false sense of security and most likely just expedite the inevitable day of when they are caught. When that happens, they’ll find themselves giving their own version of a public apology to their family for their indiscretions.

I know buying spy phone software is not easy.
You have to not only worry about the thought of installing software on your target’s cell phone, but you have to do it within a time period when you have access to their phone, hope that you even bought the right product, and cross your fingers that nothing will go wrong during installation.

I say that with a smile because it’s a site I set up last year, but you will find lots of great information there. More than 2000 members, almost 500 posts and close to 200 threads. It’s currently the only discussion forum that is 100% focused on the spy phone industry.

iPhone Spy App For Any Budget | Cheap iPhone Spy Apps

That’s how much it will cost to get your hands on the top of the line iPhone spy app sold by Flexispy. Now for most people, dropping $350 bucks on a cell phone app is a bit out of their budget. So what options are available if you don’t have much money to spend, but really need to get your hands on an iPhone spy app?

WHAT IS IT & DOES IT DO? ‘Find My iPhone’ is advertised as a service for an iPhone owner to locate their lost or stolen iPhone. Although advertised as a tool to track your iPhone, it’s also a great tool for anyone who wants to secretly track someone using an iPhone. Similar to most spy apps, you do need access to your target’s iPhone, but once you set it up, you can instantly get updates on their location via your online MobileMe account. You’ll also get to see the contacts they have stored on their phone, so you know who they are calling. It doesn’t list any call data, text messages, or provide any other insight, but it does a fantastic job at tracking the iPhone user.
To get started, all you need to do is sign up for a Mobile Me account by taking advantage of their free 60 day trial, and then set it up on the iPhone you want to track. Once you do set it up, you’ll find the tracking details almost identical to the tracking details provided by iPhone spy apps sold by Flexispy and Mobile Spy.

As you can see from the screenshot above, you get a nice arial view with the ability to further zoom in or out. You can also select between a map or satellite view.What I like most about this service compared to the other iPhone tracking apps sold via the app store, is that you don’t need to request permission from the iPhone user every time you want to locate them.

WHAT IS IT & DOES IT DO? The Security Cam app is sold via the app store and what it does is essentially turns an iPhone into your very own personal spy cam. The way this iPhone spy app works, is that it enables you to snap photos based on various triggers. For example, you can set it to snap a photo when a certain audio trigger is tripped. Other features include a countdown timer that snaps a photo when time expires, and the ability to add a date/time stamp to the photos. Keep in mind that this app is installed on YOUR iPhone. It’s not a traditional iPhone spy app that will enable you to spy on an iPhone user, but it does have spy capabilities since you can set it up to secretly spy on a room (as shown in the pics below), or any other setting where you want to keep an eye on whats going on.

WHAT IS IT & DOES IT DO? Contact Spy is an online ‘reverse people look up’ app for the iPhone. The way it works, is it provides you a way to quickly search for more details of anyone on your own personal contact list. Information Contact Spy will look for include the following:
- Web sites that mention and/or refer to your contact.
- Images that match your contact’s name.
- News of your contact.
- Blogs that mention your contact’s name.
- Addresses (US only) of your contact.
I realize this is not really an iPhone spy apps, but in a way it is because Contact Spy is giving you a way to easily investigate someone you might meet at a networking event, or similar function.

WHAT IS IT & DOES IT DO? Besides having probably the coolest user interface I’ve seen on an iPhone spy app, Night Recorder is advertised as an app to help treat Parasomnia, by recording the sounds you make while you are asleep. The way this app works, is by using adjustable audio triggers to start a recording. This means you can leave your iPhone somewhere, such as:
- Under the car seat of the person you want to monitor.
- In a room while you go to the bathroom, in order to hear what is said while you are no in the room.
- Under your partner’s bed if you want to see what happens when you are not around.
The possibilities of using this app as an iPhone spy app are really only limited by your own imagination, and at only $2.99, it’s a great deal.
Features include being able to adjust the sensitivity of the mic, transfer your files via WiFi, and an option to have new audio files every time a new recording takes place, or make one continuous recording.

WHAT IS IT & DOES IT DO? Mobile Spy was the first company to sell spy software built exclusively for the iPhone. It’s a great entry level iPhone spy app that has a great set of spy features, which should be more than enough for anyone who wants to spy on an iPhone.
Features include the following:
- View Call Logs – Each incoming and outgoing number is logged along with duration and time stamp.
- Secretly Read Text Messages - Every text message is logged even if the phone’s logs are deleted. Includes full text.
- iPhone GPS Tracking – GPS postions are uploaded every thirty minutes with a link to a map.
- Browser History – Every website visited in Safari will be recorded into a list inside your account.
All of this for only a bit shy of $50 bucks. In my opinion, this is great value for the money. It’s not the best product in terms of features, but for anyone with a limited budget and who doesn’t need any of the more advanced spy features found on Flexispy’s PRO-X (such as live call tapping & remote room monitoring), then it’s a good deal.
By the way, in order to install Mobile Spy (or Flexispy), you will need to jailbreak/unlock the iPhone. There is no way to install it without first jailbreaking/unlocking the iPhone. If you think you will not be able to do this, or perhaps you are worried the owner of the iPhone will notice, then don’t buy this iPhone spy app. Flexispy does a real good job hiding the fact that the phone has been jailbroken, but the bottom line is that the phone will be jailbroken, so keep this in mind when shopping for iPhone spy apps.

DON’T FORGET
One thing to point out, both the Find My iPhone & Mobile Spy app require physical access to the iPhone in order to install the software. This means also being able to bypass the PIN code if the user has one protecting their iPhone. There is no way to install either app without physical access to the phone.
The other apps are installed on YOUR iPhone, so there isn’t any restrictions you are going to be faced with.

MobiStealth PRO-X Now Supports CDMA (Sprint & Verizon)

UPDATE> FEB 20, 2010: I want to clarify my previous post about MobiStealth working on CDMA networks. It seems I might have caused a bit of confusion, so please read this update.
My announcement that MobiStealth PRO-X now supporting CDMA networks such as Verizon and Sprint is valid, BUT so far it’s only been confirmed on both the HTC Hero and HTC Eris phones. No other Android phones have been tested yet other than the Droid (which is still causing a few problems), so if you are buying MobiStealth PRO-X because it now works on CDMA networks, DO NOT buy it if your target does not have either the HTC Hero or Eris phones. As soon as additional phones are supported (such as the Droid), I’ll post another update.

I got a bit of interesting news today. It seems that MobiStealth’s top of the line PRO-X Android spy product, now supports phones that are on CDMA networks such as Verizon & Sprint.
Prior to this announcement, if you wanted to use the call recording feature found on MobiStealth’s PRO-X version, it would only work on Android phones that are on GSM networks. This announcement is great news for anyone wanting to listen to recordings of their target’s phone calls, but it’s also great for MobiStealth as a company, since no other spy phone vendor has a call recording or call intercept feature that works on CDMA networks. MobiStealth is the first to offer such feature.
Now one thing to point out is that not all Android phones are supported. For some reason, the DROID is having slight issues with it, but so far it’s been tested rigorously on the HTC Hero and HTC Eris phones. I’m sure it’s just a matter of days before we’ll see support for the Droid and other phones.

Spy Phone Tip > How To Do A Quick Phone Check

Determining if your target’s cell phone will support the installation of spy phone software, should be one of the first things you do prior to purchasing. It’s easy to spot an iPhone or BlackBerry, but what should you do when you have absolutely no idea if your target’s cell phone is running Android, Symbian, or Windows Mobile? To find out if your target’s cell phone is supported, here are a couple QUICK and EASY options.
OPTION #1: Go to the spy phone vendor’s website and see if your target’s cell phone is listed. Check for a tab or link on their website that says Supported Phones, Compatibility or something similar. The three main spy phone vendors Flexispy, Mobile Spy, & MobiStealth all have pictures of each supported phone type, so they do make it easy.
Using this option is great if your target has a phone that’s been on the market for a while, but if they have a cell phone that’s just hit the market, you probably won’t see it listed on the vendor’s website. This is where Option #2 comes in.
OPTION #2: Do a quick online search yourself and find out right away. Performing a search on your own is actually quite easy if you know where to go. My favorite resource to check on phone compatibility is CNET Reviews. When readers email me wanting to know if a specific phone is compatible, I’ll always reply back with a link to a review from CNET. Just follow these three easy steps.
1) Go to http://reviews.cnet.com and do a search for the phone.
2) Look for your phone within the search results, and then click on the one that best matches your search query. Once the review page loads, you’ll see a series of small tabs. What you’ll want to do is click on the ‘Specifications’ tab as shown below.
3) Now scroll down and look for the ‘Communicator Features’ section. If you see either Google Android, Symbian OS, or Windows Mobile, then you’ll be able to install spy phone software on your target’s cell phone.
Just remember that not all vendors support all OS types. Here is a quick summary of each company, and what they support.

MOBILE SPY – Android, BlackBerry, iPhone, Symbian, & Windows Mobile

In a perfect world, the best thing to do would be to do a quick search as described above and verify that your target’s cell phone is supported. Then just to be 100% sure, send an email to the spy phone vendor and ask them to confirm that the phone is supported. There could be a legitimate reason why a specific cell phone is not listed on their site as a supported phone. In probably 9 out of 10 times, if you see that your target’s cell phone is running a supported OS, you wont have any problems installing spy phone software, but it’s always good to double check.

Motorola RAZR Spy Phone | How To Spy On A RAZR Cell Phone

One thing that surprises me, is how many people still have a Motorola RAZR. I think I must get at least 2-3 emails a day from people who want to know how to spy on a Motorola RAZR cell phone. I know at one point, the Motorola RAZR was the #1 selling cell phone in the US, but it just surprises me that so many people still use it. This post is for all the people who want to know if its possible to spy on a Motorola RAZR.
If you want to spy on a Motorola RAZR cell phone, I have good news and bad news. Let’s start with the bad news first.
BAD NEWS
The bad news is that you cannot purchase spy phone software that will work on a Motorola RAZR.
The only apps you can install on a RAZR are Java apps that must be turned on everytime you want to use them. There is no way to silently start a Java app without the user knowing, and more importantly keep it running in the background. Smart phones such as an iPhone or BlackBerry dont have this problem, because a smart phone has an operating system that enables developers to create applications that can automatically start up when the phone is turned on, and also run silently in the background. The best example is to think of your PC. When you start it up, there are numerous programs that also start up behind the scenes. You are not required to physical turn on each driver, program, etc.
In a nutshell, this is why spy phone software for the Motorola RAZR doesn’t exist. If Motorola releases a future version of the RAZR running Android or Symbian, then commercial spy software sold by companies such as Flexispy & Mobile Spy will work. Until that day arrives, you’ll have to look for another way to spy on a Motorola RAZR.
GOOD NEWS
Even though there is not a way to install spy phone software on a Motorola RAZR, you do have options if you want to secretly read deleted text messages, or view deleted call logs. What you need to do is purchase a SIM card spy tool. The most popular SIM card spy tool is a product called Cell Phone Spy Elite, and is sold by Brick House Security. MobiStealth PRO-X | New ANDROID SPY Software Unleashed!!

A new spy phone vendor called Mobi Stealth, recently announced immediate availability of their PRO-X Android spy software that has spy phone features not seen anywhere else. Although MobiStealth is the “new kid” on the block, based on what they’ve managed to release, they have a very bright future ahead of them. No other company selling Android spy software (or any type of spy phone software) can claim to have more features than MobiStealth. It really does stand in a class of it’s own.
Is it the best money can buy? From my research, it seems to be the best spy phone software on the market (feature wise), and unless something unexpected occurs during my tests next week, I wont hesitate to crown MobiStealth the #1 Android spy app money can buy.
Remember, I have NOT tested this product out. I plan to do so either this week, or early next week. Once I do, I’ll write a follow up to this post and give you all the good and bad (nothing is perfect…..right?) I uncover from my tests. Not sure which Android phone I’ll use. Most likely it will be a Motorola Droid or an HTC Dream. Would love to test it on a Nexus One.
MOBISTEALTH OVERVIEW
MobiStealth’s Android spy software is available in three versions. Light, PRO, & PRO-X (their top of the line and most featured rich of the three).
At the moment, they only support Android devices. This means you are out of luck if you want to spy on a BlackBerry or iPhone. However, if you are looking for a way to spy on any of the hot new cell phones such as the Motorola Droid, Google’s Nexus One, HTC Dream/Hero/Magic, G1, MyTouch 3g, and all the other Android based cell phones, then MobiStealth may be the exactly what you need.
What impresses me most about MobiStealth, are two things.
1) Exclusive Features: MobiStealth has created an Android spy app which has spy phone features not found anywhere else. Recording of calls, picture & video retrieval, are just a few of the exciting new spy phone features MobiStealth has brought to the market.
2) Test. Test. Test. Test: I first noticed MobiStealth about 5 months ago, when I saw various ads around the net looking for beta testers. To be honest, I sort of wrote them off because I knew develping commercial grade spy phone software is not an easy task. However, MobiStealth perservered and was able to sign up a plethora of beta testers over a four month period. The end result is most likely one of the most tested spy phone apps on the market. Rather than keep the testing in-house, MobiStealth decided to let their app roam in the wild and get as many actual users to test it and provide feedback. This in itself is very impressive.

–> SECRETLY RECORD CALLS
This MobiStealth Android spy feature (available only on MobiStealth PRO-X) enables you to record calls made from/to specific numbers on your target’s phone. Top 5 Spy Phone Mistakes To Avoid

I often hear from people who made some sort of mistake when purchasing spy phone software. Most result in a financial loss, but in some cases, it’s a bit more serious. I’ve decided to put together a quick list of the five most common spy phone mistakes to avoid.
1) NO REFUND POLICY: Make sure you buy spy phone software only from a vendor that has a full money back guarantee. A legitimate spy phone company that is selling a product that works as advertised, should be confident enough to give you a full money back guarantee. Most of the companies selling Bluetooth mobile phone spy software do not offer refunds. Many of them have a strict zero refund policy, and a few of them will only offer in-store credit if you can prove the merchandise was defective.
Do yourself a favor, don’t waste your money on these companies. Stick with a company that offers a solid refund. It’s impossible to test every possible variation of a cell phone. You have different applications that may cause a conflict with the software, OS versions, network issues related to your geographic location, etc. are just some of the many problems that could cause the spy phone software not to function as advertised. When this happens, and the support team of your spy phone vendor cannot get the product to work, it’s only fair that you get your money back in full.
2) NOT VERIFYING SUPPORTED PHONE LIST: Do you know what type of phone your target has? Is it supported or is it running a non supported and/or proprietary Operating System? This is a very common mistake people make when purchasing spy phone software. They either think the software must be installed on their phone versus the target’s phone, or they don’t take enough time to determine if their target’s cell phone is compatible.
It’s quite easy in most cases to determine if your target’s phone type is compatible. An iPhone and BlackBerry are easy to pick out. Where it gets a little bit more difficult is when your target is using a cell phone which you are not sure is running an of the supported Operating Systems. Phones such as the Samsung SCH i760 or Motorola Q are a supported, but how would you know? Is the Motorola RAZR supported? The quick and easy way to identify if your target’s phone is supported is to go to the spy phone vendors website and look under ‘Supported Phones’ or ‘Compatible Phones’ and look to see if your target’s phone is there.
Now keep in mind that most of the websites are not updated frequently, so if you don’t see your target’s phone listed, run a quick check on Google for phone and add ’specifications’ to the Google search. Look for a review of the phone and try to find out if the phone uses either Symbian, Windows Mobile, or Android. If it does, then you are good to go. If after searching around on the web, you still cannot determine if your target’s cell phone is compatible, go to www.spyphoneforums.com and post a question if the phone is supported, and I’ll quickly check around for you. It might take a few days to get back to you, but I will definitely find out for you.
3) ASSUMING YOU CAN ACCESS THE TARGET PHONE: Another common mistake people make is they rush out to purchase spy phone software without ever thinking about their ability to get physical access to the target phone. Without physical access to the target device, there is absolutely no way you are going to get spy phone software on the phone. Now lets take this one step further. Not only do you need physical access to the target phone, but you also need to make sure the phone is not protected with a PIN number. In order to install spy phone software, you need to be able to access the cell phone’s browser, and point to a specific website. Without access to the phone, and a way to circumvent their PIN number, you will not be installing any type of spy software on their phone. Your best choice would be either try an alternative spy phone product (such as a SIM Card Spy product or PC Spy Software), or bite the bullet and purchase a compatible cell phone. This will enable you to make sure you have a compatible cell phone, but also to give yourself enough time to setup/configure the software, and test it out, before giving to your target as a gift. Valentines Day is around the corner. If you have to go down this path, Valentines Day would be a perfect excuse to purchase a new cell phone for your loved one.
4) NOT TAKING TIME TO REVIEW INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: This is where people really blow it and get caught. You must study the installation instructions prior to installing the software. Don’t think for a second that you are not going to have any questions. You will have questions, and you will completely screw up if you don’t take the time to go through the installation instructions to make sure you completely understand every single step. I always recommend that after you purchase the spy phone software, you go through each step of the installation instructions, and make sure you completely understand what the requirement is for that step. If you do not, send the support team a question, and get your questions answered. The good news is that installation is not difficult if you take the time up front to study the instructions and ask the right questions with the vendor’s support team.
Another important installation tip I give people is that everyone should have a “back up” in place in case you are caught during installation. Perhaps download a ring tone, game, or wall paper before you install the software. This will enable you to show your target what you were doing with their phone if they just happen to walk in on you during installation. The last thing you want is for your target to walk in and ask what you are doing, and you have nothing to reply back with.
5) CHOOSING THE WRONG PRODUCT: You need to find out what spy phone features you want, before you install the software. A common mistake I hear is that someone is happy with their results so far. They’ve installed the software and are satisfied with the results. However, now they want to get more on their target, but do not know how to upgrade their software. The best way to avoid this problem is to first identify the features that are most important to you, then choose the product based on the features you want. There is absolutely no reason why someone should purchase Flexispy’s PRO-X product if they will never want to listen in on their target’s phone calls. On the flip side, if you know that listening to your target’s calls is going to be important to you, spend the extra money up front and get the top of the line product. This will save you from any headaches of trying to go through the hassles of getting your hands on the target phone, installation, set up, configuration, etc.
