“Help! Where can I buy Palm Pre spy software?”

I get a lot of emails from readers who want to know where to buy Palm Pre monitoring software.  Unfortunately, there is not a single vendor who is selling monitoring software for the Palm Pre.  The reason is that it takes a lot of time and resources to develop monitoring software,  so they choose to only target cell phone devices that have a large user base. Although the Palm Pre has been a huge hit for Palm, is has yet to reach critical mass as other devices such as the iPhone.

How is the Palm Pre doing?

On September 17, 2009, Palm had a conference call with investors and disclosed that they had shipped 823,000 Palm devices last quarter. Out of those 823,000 units sold, roughly 486,000 were the new Palm Pre. This may seem like a lot of units, but if you compare it to the number of  iPhone’s sold last quarter, there is absolutely no comparison. On July 21, 2009,  Apple reported sales figures of their most recent quarter ending June 27.  In this quarter iPhone sales hit 5.3 million units.

Now if you”re a company thinking about investing money into developing a product, would you target a product which sold almost 500,000 units last quarter, or one that sold more than 5 million?

Now you can see why developing Palm Pre spy software is not high on the list for spy phone developers. Until sales figures start to hit the millions per quarter, it may be a long time before we see Palm Pre monitoring software.

So what can you do if you need to monitor a Palm Pre?  Here are a few suggestions.

Are you a techie?

If you are comfortable setting up a website, creating a WordPress blog, setting up SSH & dynamic DNS on a Palm Pre, then you can set up Google GPS tracking on a Palm Pre and track a Palm Pre in real time. If you feel comfortable with the tasks required to set this up, then go for it.

Are you NOT a techie?

If you are not a technical person, and don’t know a thing about DNS, SSH, setting up apps on mobile devices, etc., then here are a couple alternative products that could help you out.

In addition to all the standard PC spy features such as recording key strokes, chat sessions, etc., now you are able to remotely view the activities of a remote PC in real time. You can also remotely control the PC and even download documents and images. that are on their PC.  The top selling PC spy software (and the only one I would recommend), is called Sniper Spy. Palm Pre monitoring software is not yet available for the Palm Pre, and it might be a while before a vendor decides to roll the dice and invest in developing Palm Pre monitoring software. However, if you really need to monitor a Palm Pre, you now know that there is a way to track a Palm Pre via GPS (although not an easy thing to set up) or you can go down an alternative route and purchase either a GPS tracking device or PC spy software.
