I get a lot of emails from readers who want to know where to buy Palm Pre spy phone software. Unfortunately, there is not a single spy phone vendor who is selling spy phone software for the Palm Pre. The reason is that it takes a lot of time and resources to develop spy phone software, so they choose to only target cell phone devices that have a large user base. Although the Palm Pre has been a huge hit for Palm, is has yet to reach critical mass as other devices such as the iPhone.

How is the Palm Pre doing?

On September 17, 2009, Palm had a conference call with investors and disclosed that they had shipped 823,000 Palm devices last quarter. Out of those 823,000 units sold, roughly 486,000 were the new Palm Pre. This may seem like a lot of units, but if you compare it to the number of iPhone’s sold last quarter, there is absolutely no comparison. On July 21, 2009, Apple reported sales figures of their most recent quarter ending June 27. In this quarter iPhone sales hit 5.3 million units.

Now if you”re a company thinking about investing money into developing a product, would you target a product which sold almost 500,000 units last quarter, or one that sold more than 5 million?

Now you can see why developing Palm Pre spy software is not high on the list for spy phone developers. Until sales figures start to hit the millions per quarter, it may be a long time before we see Palm Pre spy phone software.
